Diaphragm type plastic grommets are used for hiding exposed holes till such time as they are required to be opened as ports for wires to pass. They can be used in instances where a single wire has to pass through, by lancing the film in the middle and providing an outlet for the wire or wires. This is good in applications where constant upgrade of systems takes place and additional wires are required. Plastic or PVC compounds are relatively hard and they have good aging properties, which make them suitable for use both outdoors and indoors. These grommets are generally easy to install and may be push-fitted into the hole provided you choose the correct size and dimensions. Edging grommets are available in coils or strips and they can be cut to the right length to fit the dimensions of the hole in sheet metal panels to prevent fraying and friction damage.
