When the surface that your expensive equipment, machinery, benches, stools, furniture, shelves, cabinets or other items stand on is not level or smooth, this can lead to annoying wobbling of the item and also cause damage to the equipment. For instance, when refrigerators or washing machines are not placed on level surfaces, they do not function to their optimum. An easy, affordable and efficient solution is to install leveling feet to the bottom of the item or equipment and adjust the height of each leg so that equilibrium is reached and there is stability.

Since each piece of equipment or machinery is required to be specially placed and mounted and the nature of the surface also can vary, it's important to choose the right type of leveling foot or leg. They come in a variety of materials such as metal, plastics and nylon or a combination of all. If your equipment or furniture is constantly being shifted around, then nylon would be the best material since it will not damage the floor. Leveling feet also vary in design complexity. For simple height adjustment, the design may be a very basic one, but if there are more complex requirements and adjustments to be frequently made, then the design incorporates features like adjustment screws or nuts near the bottom of the leg. While installing heavy equipment or machinery, moving or lifting it would be a concern, hence the articulating-type leveling feet would be the best solution.

Inserts: These are ribbed inserts which can be easily fitted to a suitable part on the equipment. They are resistant to great amounts of lateral stress and if they're of nylon material, this makes them durable enough to withstand wear and tear.

Based type: These have a flat bottom surface, with a tapered top that can be fitted with an integrated threaded bolt. This type is excellent for fitting onto the underside of furniture, cabinets or shelves which need to be moved around. If they're manufactured in nylon, they can be color-matched to the décor, or be in standard black to blend in with the room.

Tilting/Articulating: Used for heavy equipment, these are more complex designs, which allow adjustment even when they carry the load of the machinery, furniture or equipment. The tilting type has a ball-and-stud design which makes finer adjustments possible. They can also control vibration during the working of the machinery or equipment.

Snap lock: these have a thick cushioning pad made of synthetic materials or elastomers, attached to the metal leveling foot, making the task of repeatedly moving the heavy equipment across floors easy and safe. Mounting on uneven floors is also simpler since there is also a tilt facility available in this design.
