Washers are flat disks with a central hole and are essential in certain fastening or joining applications where the load has to be evenly distributed. They can also be used to reduce vibration, as spacers, to give a better sealing, locking and grip and also prevent corrosion between two metal surfaces. Retaining washers provide excellent grip in the outer diameter of a screw-shank and because they instantly grip the screw body when they're slid on, they reduce assembly-line times considerably.

They are used in aerospace (because of their light weight) automobile, construction, furniture, marine, petroleum, plumbing and also in exercise, recreation and play equipment. Since they are highly resistant to a variety of acids, bases and solvents, they can be used safely in chemical, food and beverage industries.
