Plastic caps are used in a variety of industrial and commercial applications for protective and finishing purposes. They are also used to cover and protect exposed pipe/tube ends during shipping and storage. Some of them can be snapped on, others push-fitted or screwed on if they have threaded ends. The kinds of plastics used can range from high or low density polyethylene to hard plastics, PVC, silicone compounds and polypropylene compounds.

Push-fitted caps: These come in a variety of sizes, colors and dimensions. Ranging from caps with tear-off tabs for tamper-proofing or tamper-evidence, to flanged, threaded, O-ring, stretch-fits, flexible and round ended caps, these caps are used in a variety of applications and can be color coded for different purposes.

Tapered: These caps or plugs are usually in polyethylene, usually low density, and they can be either used as plugs to protect the inner diameter or as caps to protect the outer surface of threaded/non-threaded pipes and hoses. They protect against moisture, rust, corrosion, dust and dirt during shipping, handling and storage.

Threaded: made of high density polyethylene, these caps are also fitted with a sealing disk or gasket to prevent leakage and give a better grip and sealing. Some designs have a hexagonal top to allow opening and closing with a wrench. Tire-valve caps also fall under this category. They are low-density polyethylene and are used mainly to protect the tire-stems against dirt and debris. They are weather and petroleum-product resistant. Automotive air-conditioning port sealing caps are available in nylon and are used on both pressure sides of the air-con unit. Metric caps can be used to protect the threaded ends of pipes/tubes.

Gas cylinder caps: are used to prevent over-filling and also to protect the threaded ends during storage and shipment. These are available with pull-off tabs for tamper-proofing and tamper-evidence and are available in different colors for different applications.

Medical, food-grade, liquor, non-carbonated drinks caps: These are made from high quality polypropylene as they are corrosion resistant and provide a secure barrier against contaminants. They can retain the freshness and stability of the bottled product and prevent spills and evaporation, while being tamper-evident.

Bolt caps: are plugs which can be used to stop the open ends of tubes and pipes. They are usually made of tough PVC and must have high resistance to temperatures and aggressive solvents, gases and acids. When they are fitted with vents and pressure gaskets, they provide additional safety.

Aerosol: These are used to cap aerosol spray cans. They have angled directional fittings and press-down stoppers to control and direct the spray.

Flip-tops: These caps are used in many cosmetic and food/beverage applications, to provide ease of flow in perfumes, sauces and syrups.

Child-proof/Seal-tops: These are used in medical and cosmetic applications and they provide safety and security. Available in a wide range of colors and textures, they can be tamper-proof and also tamper-evident types.
